This two day course is designed to prepare perianesthesia nurses to take the Certified Ambulatory PeriAnestheisa or Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse exam and to demonstrate clinical competence and knowledge of practice standards.

ASPAN Standards and Practice Recommendations are the foundation of perianesthesia nursing practice. These concepts will be explored and thoroughly covered.
You will be able to identify the types of anesthesia and agents administered in the perianesthesia period.
You will review perianesthesia care of the most common surgeries covering preoperative therough post discharge care with an emphasis on behavior, cognitive, physiologic, and safety needs of the patient.
You will identify the nurse’s role in caring for patients with surgical emergencies and perioperative complications. When the patient is the most vulnerable, the perianesthesia nurse must be the most knowledgeable and decisive. This review will help you be the best advocate you can be when your patient needs you the most.
